Billions of dollars are spent for your attention during the holidays.
The Health and Fitness industry will spend a lot.
Gyms, products, and online services will vie for your attention early and often. Many will talk about starting new in 2019.
Our human minds like the “blank slate” ideal. We like the idea of starting fresh, as if the current state we are in never existed.
Advertisers will tell you to become a “New You,” and will claim their product or service will do make it happen.
Rather than dispute the ideal, I would rather discuss how it could actually happen.
The human body is built for adaptation. The body can experience change if the right stressors are applied and recovered from over time.
If you are dealing with weight issues, you can create the right stressors and over time be at a better weight.
If you are dealing with chronic health issues, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart issues, then you can apply the right stressors over time and experience improvements in your conditions.
The question, then, is how you apply those stressors.
Many programs give you the stressors (eating programs, exercise programs, things to do).
Not many programs care about your individual journey through those stressors.
A stressor means stress. Any change requires us to add stress appropriate for our needs.
What happens when things get hard? What happens when, well, “life” happens?
Many products and services are just there to access. Most do not have ways to communicate with you and help you get back on track.
So, if you are looking to create a change in your life, then partner with someone who cares.
Start your journey knowing things will be challenging and knowing you have someone in your corner.
If you want us in your corner, simply sign up for a No-Sweat Intro to talk more.
